Best practices in eMobility: Take a look at Singapore

There is a lot of research and development going on in the arena of electromobility. Dozens if not hundreds of projects are carried out worldwide on a local level and even on supranational level like the Green eMotion project. Why is this and what are the success factors?

Singapore also found electromobility very appealing for their specific geographic and economic situation. The Singaporean government therefore created the EV Test Bed Programme. A program to attract high-tech manufacturing and research activities in Singapore and to create innovative business models to be exported to other countries. The agencies behind the EV Test Bed programme chose Bosch Software Innovations to develop and operate the charging services in Singapore.

IDC Energy Insights had a close look at the progress being made and the challenges and opportunities of the best practices in eMobility which they found in Singapore. The analysts of IDC identified those critical success factors:

  • Choice of electric vehicles
  • Charging infrastructure
  • Grid integration and pricing models
  • Backend systems and business models
  • Incentive program
  • Choice of partner
